Ever since I was chosen to participate in this peer-to-peer tutoring programme, I have excelled in many ways that I could not possibly imagine. Furthermore this programme has made me a better person when it comes to studies, as I have to set an example for my peers and fellow tutees. This may seem like uninvited pressure, but to me it is a push, somewhat an encouragement for me to study harder to help out my tutees. I have never felt so confident with my knowledge as I know I have been studying hard, keeping up with the latest changes, and always looking for past year questions in order for my tutees to practice and improve their abilities in chemistry. However, it may seem like I put too much time into this programme. I must admit, I do. But it is a fact that I study first, and I try or practice the questions before handing them to my tutees as I am afraid of passing out the wrong information or facts which could mislead them. Besides that, I realize my true potential when it comes to tutoring and I have gained an interest in teaching, hoping someday that I would be lecturing.

The tutor – tutee program has benefited me a lot. Ever since chemistry was introduced to me, I struggled to gain clarity out of explanations given to me. I usually find myself in confusion trying to visualize the nature of the contents of the subject. After a fair amount of times obtaining results below average, I sought for help. With the assistance given to me by my tutor, Vicky, the intricacies of chemistry slowly became comprehensible to me. What contributed to this was our ability to converse in simple languages to convey the message. With this added advantage, I now have less trouble remembering chemistry facts than I normally would. With the high degree of knowledge he has on the subject, my confidence in him is unfaltering. Also, he has never failed to be meticulous in his elucidations, which I believe to be his forte. He is blessed and well endowed with attributes of a teacher. As a friend, he empowers you to be at the top of your game.

The benefit which I have earned the most since being a tutor is the ability to explain to people in more details without having unnecessary issues. Furthermore, I was able to recall back all the knowledge I have been taught in class and present it out to my tutee accurately. Obviously, this will help to build my confidence and consistency in handling exam questions. In addition to that, it helps to improve my patience in giving my undivided attention to my tutee so that she can perform well. Overall, being a tutor has given me the exposure needed in my learning curve.

Dave Has greatly helped me identify my weak point and rectified my mistakes. Granted, I had a billion ‘stupid’ questions to ask him, but as always he was a perfect gentleman. He answered all my questions and guided me through my worse chapters.
The 2nd benefit would be availability. Since Dave always manages to complete his work before the rest of us do – he is always ready and willing to lend a helping hand. If I have a question which I always do I’d go to Dave.
I’m very grateful for being given the chance to participate in this programme as I think and hope I am much more ready to face the AS exams and take the bull by its horns but I’ve also made a great friends so…. Yea, I for one, am a firm advocate for this programme.

The peer to peer tutoring is highly beneficial for both the tutor and tutee. As a tutor myself, I am aware that I have to know more and understand the subject better. This encourages me to read and research more on the particular subject than I otherwise would. Besides, interaction with the tutee had indeed made me realize the many simple facts that I myself often overlook. For instance, the ‘F’ in ‘P = Fv’ is not the ‘resultant force’ as I always thought it was. Instead it is a single component of force by itself. As the tutoring sessions progress, my understanding on Physics deepens and that is when I truly enjoy the subject.

All in all, this tutoring programme does serve its purpose and I would be glad to be involved again.

This programme has proven to be very helpful to me. Attending the session helps me understand the topics that confuse me previously. Wei Ling, my tutor, is able to explain Physics to me in a simple and understandable way which clears my confusion and increase my liking for Physics. Since the session started, Physics no longer pose as a difficult subject for me but as something interesting that can be applied in everyday life. Thus, it is no longer a chore to study Physics because after understanding the Physics concepts taught only I realize that his subject is simple and easy to apply in all Physics questions. Now, I feel more confident as I approach this subject and it seems to be less hard to solve questions and obtain correct answers.

As a Biology tutor, I am very fortunate to have Amal to constantly force me to open up my book. We clarify our doubts and have revision sessions before tests. The constant inquisitive and enthusiasm to study from her has really motivated me in my studies. The results are clearly shown in our exam results which marked significant improvements in both of our studies.

My tutor, Teh Li Ying has guided me in a very good way.
She will ask me to do revision for the chapter first before she explains to me.
This makes me understand the chapters thoroughly.
Besides that, she would constantly motivate me to complete exercises that teacher has given and always explain to me the question that I have did wrongly. My doubts are cleared whenever I encounter any problems in certain topics as we meet up at least once a week.
Before the mid semester, she has been asking me to practice with pass year questions and it worked as shown in my improved grades.

This programme had not only benefit my friend (my tutee), but I had also gained a lot from it. Firstly, I learned how to communicate or to express my idea. To share your knowledge with someone, understanding alone is not enough, it is how u expresses it in a way, where both of us can understand.
Secondly, it had helped me to revise my studies. My tutee will keep asking me question, to answer her questions, it had made me to work out the answers, to refer to more books. On the other hand, her questions had helped me to study those I had left out.
As a conclusion, this tutoring had helped me a lot and I am really happy to be a part of this.
