ABOUT OUR PROJECTS

Aademic Consultations

Subject consultations are conducted by lecturers where students can seek help during their free periods. Lecturers are stationed in a room and a timetable of the available consultation time-slots are put up on staff room doors. Consultation sessions are made available to all CAL students for both AS and A2 syllabus.

Students are advised to prepare themselves by clearly defining their problem areas to facilitate the consultation process. The lecturers cannot help you if you only tell them 'I do not understand everything'

If you give them a general problem, they will give you a general solution, which ultimately solves nothing.

Peer to Peer tutoring

Based on the idea that students communicate better with their peers and the success of similar projects in universities overseas, the TLU for Students came up with Peer to Peer project. This project involves academically competent students endorsed by their lecturers to tutor their peers who need extra help in certain subjects.

Revision workshops

The revision workshops are conducted before final examinations by providing target students with a lot of practice on examination-styled questions. Questions range from recall-type questions to analytical-type questions.

Some workshops place student-helpers in charge of the workshops with lecturers standing by to provide minor support and to facilitate the sessions. Other sessions are conducted by the teachers themselves. Check with your subject teacher to find out details of your workshop.

Talks & Seminars

The talks and seminars organized by the STARS committee are meant for students who wish to gain insight into their possible career pathways or to acquire new academic skills to enhance their learning and academic results. The talks are normally conducted by existing or even ex-Taylorians. Check our blog often for announcements on the next talk/seminar.
